Having been in the conferencing industry for some years and having decided to move to Hillcrest, Maita and Adrian Garrett looked for a house where they could start a B&B and conference facility.Thus, Tilacaze was developed. The name came after much deliberation and with Maita being of Mauritian origin, it was decided that the name Tilacaze, meaning “Little house” in Mauritian Creole, described the venue perfectly.
There are two tastefully decorated, double, en-suite bedrooms catering for a maximum of 4 guests. Complimentary tea / coffee facilities are available in the rooms. There is a spacious lounge with DSTV where guests can unwind. There is a large patio offering sweeping views over the gardens and nature reserve. A full English breakfast is served and dinner is by prior arrangement, however there is an assortment of excellent resturaunts in the the neighbourhood. Laundry is available on request. There is secure off-road parking for up to 4 cars. Airport transfers can be arranged. We also have direct access into the Springside nature reserve, where guests can enjoy walks on the trails in the reserve. There is an abundance of birdlife in the area.
Set in tranquil park like surroundings, Tilacaze is the ideal venue for conferences or training session for up to 30 delegates. We have endeavoured to get a natural look and feel to the place. With ample on-site parking and personalised attention to the smaller details, we will endeavour to make your stay here as pleasant and as comfortable as we can. The conference room offers a rustic yet comfortable ambiance and seats a maximum of 30 delegates. The room is air-conditioned for summer and heated for winter. Lunch is served in a beautiful, relaxed, covered outdoor area offering stunning views over the valley. There is ample secure off-road parking. The conference room seats a maximum of 30 delegates in a schoolroom style seating and 18 delegates comfortably in a U shape.Standard conference equipment is provided (whiteboard, flipchart and screen). Additional equipment can be arranged at an additional cost.
Tilacaze is conveniently situated in central Hillcrest within easy access from the freeway. The property borders the Springside Nature Reserve and it is situated in picturesque surroundings. We are 30kms from central Durban (25min drive) and 45 km from Pietermaritzburg (35 min drive). Nearest airport: Durban International 26km (25 min drive)
